How to make carpet area rugs in three simple steps

Step 1

For a start, you can either:

• Have a browse of our selection of carpets here
• Go to a carpet retailer and ask them if they have any suitable carpet pieces

If we didn’t have what you were looking for and you’ve ended up talking to a carpet retailer, when talking to the sales representative use words or carpet-related terms like:

• Carpet shortend
• End of roll
• Discontinued lines
• Manufacturers seconds
• Or managers specials

Remember, you are not buying a whole house’s worth of carpet, just a piece of carpet end or carpet remnant.

This remnant – and therefore your rug – can range in size from 3.66m x 2.00m up to 4m x 10m

This is the most economical way to get a quality large-area rug. Also, there are some stunning New Zealand wool carpets available to choose from.

Step 2 

Once you have made your choice for your new bound area rug

Arrange with the carpet company to liaise with us. Or contact us directly to work with them on your behalf for the carpet to come to our workshop.

We work with most carpet retailers in Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. We can pick up your large carpet piece from their showroom if it doesn’t fit your car.

Step 3

Visit us at our carpet edging workroom or talk to us on the phone about your needs for your custom carpet area rug.

We take the hassle out of your carpet hemming job for you.

• You choose a binding finish – overlocked, slimline, or tape edged.
• We cut to your requested size.
• We deliver the completed carpet area rug to your destination for a nominal fee or arrange for a courier if you are not in our delivery area.

Please note:

When we are handling large carpet squares, a handling fee applies.

Depending on workflow in our workroom and tape availability, the time frame is usually less than four working days.
