SYNTHETIC TAPE BINDING 7.5.cm GIVING A 3.5cm BORDER CURRENT COLOUR SELECTION AVAILABLE

Understanding the pros and cons of Synthetic Tape Binding as a selected carpet edging finish.

We use a pre-dyed polyester binding sourced from one of the world’s leading suppliers. The range we have chosen is tailored to the current colour palate in carpets that are being transformed into beautiful area rugs. This finish has a lower price point than the executive-level cotton 12.7 cm tape.

The Pros and Cons of using a synthetic tape edging as a border for your area rug

The Pros

  • Strong and durable
  • Affordable
  • Versatile
  • Recyclable

The Cons

  • Prone to static
  • Retains heat
  • Low absorbency
  • Not 100% Eco-friendly.

What do we mean when we say not 100% eco-friendly?

Polyester fibres are typically made from polyethylene terephthalate, a type of plastic. Although polyester is recyclable, it’s still not a completely green and sustainable option.

Due to New Zealand’s high UV, the edging will break over time in direct sunlight.

Price Guideline

Calculate the perimeter of your client’s area rug.

To calculate the handling fee, we strongly recommend you use our pricing guide for heavy-weight carpets. Chunky loop piles and thick plush carpets are suited to this type of finish and appear to be popular with customers.

OUR POINT OF DIFFERENCE ……. We Are Solution Focused

Most companies don’t offer opinions, recommendations, or advice on finishing edges.  It could be that they want to finish the rug the easiest way possible or just make the sale and will tell the client anything.

At Carpet Binders we take the time to inform and discuss with our customers on the best option for their rug. We understand the purpose and need for the rug so the rug is fit for purpose.  Our team pride ourselves on our professional service offering and our specialist knowledge with over four decades in the carpet binding and edging industry.
